Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) infection that occurs in patients during the treatment process in a hospital or other health care facility, and can also manifest after the patient is discharged from the hospital. Besides HAIS not only occur in patients, it can also occur in health workers, staff and hospital visitors (WHO).
These HAIs can cause increased morbidity and mortality, increase in length of treatment days and maintenance costs, increase resistance for antibiotics, as well as an increase in the cost of the health system. The source of infection of infection can come from:
- Patient himself
- From outside the patient
- Health worker
- Medical devices / instruments / equipment for patient care
To prevent transmission of infection, we can use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This PPE is mandatory used by all health workers and staff who work in hospitals.
